Flamingo Mural at The Full Moon

I was one of the lucky artists chosen to paint a dorm at the Full Moon Backpackers Hotel on Stokes Croft in Bristol.

The brief was fairly open, each room was themed around a letter and I landed L. I decided it would be 'The Ladies Room', imagining kitsch contrasting pastels and oversized illustrations wallpapered around the room. I set to work illustrating flamingos and french perfume puffers, a little boudoir for the ladies.

Camping out for 3 days to get the mural polished on time, I inevitably made quite the mess. Pie and mash, red wine a whole load of Posca pens later, it started to take shape.

I loved The Grand Budapest Hotel by Wes Anderson and I see lots of similarities with the colours I chose for the project.

I used vintage Vogue covers to make wallpaper

Here's a little time lapse teaser of me painting, 18 hours squished into 15 seconds.
