I had the pleasure of creating a whimsical, jungle-themed mural to transform the walls of a garden staircase leading to the cinema room of a stunning home in Berkhamsted. This project was an opportunity to infuse an often-overlooked space with life, character. Working closely with the family’s interior designer, I carefully curated a colour palette that harmonised with the cinema room’s decor, ensuring a seamless connection between the indoors and the mural’s lush, imaginative world.

Beyond the walls, the staircase itself played an integral role in shaping the design. The newly tiled steps featured a bold black-and-white checkerboard pattern, providing a striking contrast to the organic, fluid forms of my mural. I embraced this juxtaposition, allowing the structured geometry of the flooring to interact playfully with the vibrant, free-flowing jungle scene above. The result was a visually dynamic space where pattern, color, and form worked in harmony to create a cohesive and immersive experience.

What was once a dimly lit and overlooked passageway is now a focal point of the home—an inviting, energetic pathway that guides visitors with a sense of wonder and excitement. Through layers of bold hues and intricate detailing, I sought to evoke a sense of adventure, making each step towards the cinema room feel like a journey through a hidden jungle. This project was a true celebration of storytelling through art, proving that even the most unexpected spaces can be transformed into something extraordinary.
