‘HAPPY WALL’ MURAL GARDEN OFFICE
Pulborough
I was commissioned to reimagine and transform the facade of a former garage—now a garden office—nestled within the beautiful outdoor space of a welcoming family home in Pulborough. With a desire to bring new life to the structure, the clients referenced previous works of mine that had resonated with them, offering inspiration while allowing me creative freedom to craft a fresh, abstract geometric design tailored specifically for this setting. My goal was not only to enhance the building’s visual appeal but also to ensure that it integrated seamlessly with its surroundings, becoming a striking yet harmonious feature within the garden.
To achieve this, I wrapped the design across the entire exterior, embracing the architectural lines of the structure to create a sense of movement and cohesion. One of the key challenges was the perspex door, which initially disrupted the flow of the composition. Rather than allowing it to stand out as an unwelcome focal point, I treated it as part of the canvas, applying a specialist base layer to ensure the masonry paint adhered smoothly. This technique allowed me to camouflage the door into the overall design, ensuring a seamless and uninterrupted visual experience. The transformation was remarkable—the once plain and functional structure was now an artistic statement, adding depth, character, and vibrancy to the family’s outdoor space.
This project was a perfect example of how art can redefine an environment, turning everyday structures into bold, inspiring features that elevate the energy of a space. By carefully balancing color, form, and material considerations, I was able to craft a mural that not only reflected the client’s artistic preferences but also became a unique and integral part of their home.
