‘COMMUNITY MURAL’ STAMFORD HILL ESTATE

In collaboration with the residents of the Stamford Hill Estate and the community group Friends of Stamford Hill (FOSH), I embarked on an enriching journey of artistic creation through a series of engaging workshops aimed at gathering collective input for a vibrant new mural. My commitment to fostering inclusivity and collaboration was paramount as I meticulously wove together the diverse ideas, thoughts, and visions shared by participants, ensuring that the final design would serve as a true reflection of the community's unique spirit.

The culmination of this collaborative endeavour manifested in two large-scale murals, strategically positioned within the central arches of the estate’s communal areas. These murals not only beautify the surroundings but also symbolise the creativity of the community. To further empower the local youth, I organised interactive workshops where children were invited to contribute to the artwork, painting elements of the design alongside me. This hands-on involvement not only instilled a sense of ownership and pride but also nurtured a budding appreciation for the arts.

The overarching theme of the design was to bring colour, energy, and joy into the communal space, transforming it into a welcoming oasis for all residents to enjoy. The murals are a testament to collective creativity and a celebration of community spirit, fostering connection and positivity within the heart of Stamford Hill.
